She moves in echoes I cannot chase,
Lips like crimes left unsolved.
One eye lies wide awake,
The other dreams,
painted shut in a pastel scream.

Her hair spills like rumors
twisted, slick,
telling truths only shadows pick.
I saw her once,
in the smoke of a cigarette,
profile split like the moon in a rearview mirror
too close to grasp,
too sharp to forget.

Every color is an alibi.
Every line is a broken oath.
And in that quiet chaos,
she looked at me
or through me
and said nothing.

Just like the night.
