She waits in the room where the ceiling never quite closes,

where night is not a curtain but a verdict.

You won’t find smoke here only the scent of things left unsaid,

and the cracked echo of footsteps leaving wrong.

No perfume. No clock. Just the memory of metal cooling on skin.

She learned early that silence was safer than grace.

A girl who once played with shadows, now watched them

shuffle back into themselves when her gaze turns.

There is something about stillness that makes men uneasy.

They call it elegance. They mean control.

Outside, flags fell like tired hands.

People disappeared into alleys thick with promises.

The borders changed while she painted her lips in the mirror,

not out of vanity, but to remember her mouth had shape.

Even in the revolution, beauty had a function:

    distraction, defiance, or both.

The men came and went with theories and fears,

dripping wine onto state secrets and shouting about God.

She nodded, smiled, and memorized their weaknesses.

Eyes like trapdoors. A tilt in her chin that closed every case.

It was never about betrayal. It was always about clarity.

Sometimes she thinks of her mother’s kitchen,

the knife resting beside bread like a second language.

Sometimes she dreams of walking backwards into the sea,

not to drown, just to feel what it was like

    to leave without lying.

    Now she sits. Always upright.

One hand on her lap, the other lost to time.

    The silence isn’t emptiness.

    It’s a ledger.

    And it’s full.

Jalen Wall Art — WordPress Daily Prompt’

Prompt: “What fears have you overcome and how?”

I’ve never been a web designer, but I’ve worked beside one digitally, from a distance for over five websites now. Ms. Shumaila Afzal(https://getsoftapps.com) and I have never met in person.

She’s in Pakistan, I’m in Thailand. Our entire collaboration was built through online exchanges, digital trust, and a kind of instinctual creative chemistry.

Before finding her, I struck out with at least three other developers. Starting anything new, especially technical, would fill me with fear.

I’m not trained in code. I’m a writer, a blogger, and now, somehow, an artist. But every time I leapt into a new creative venture ,whether it was rebuilding a blog, launching a new domain, or trying a new visual medium,I just kept moving forward.

What’s unique about my art journey is that it didn’t begin traditionally.

I didn’t start painting with brushes or formal lessons.

I began with early AI tools way back when the models were crude, even prehistoric compared to what’s possible now.

I used those editorial assistants to build content, shape ideas, and eventually, teach myself how to see.

When image generation arrived, I jumped in.

I took sketches, references, raw ideas and let AI show me possibilities.

From there, I layered in real world mediums: charcoal, block ink, pastel.

I taught myself to paint on paper and canvas.

Then I circled back and digitized those works again, painting over them with a stylus, refining them with hybrid techniques.

I’ve had deep fears around digital painting apps like “Infinite Painter”. It still intimidates me.

     I dive in anyway.

I create because it’s the only way I know how to grow.

I’ve overcome the fear of not being good enough, not being technical enough, not being “real” enough.

The truth is: I’m not an AI artist.

     I’m just an artist.

And everything I’ve learned through blogging, collaborating, failing, restarting now feeds a practice that’s uniquely mine.

    That’s how I rebuild.

That’s how I begin again. Every time.

In the foreground, the tomcat rests, eyes half-lidded, an embodiment of peace. Behind him, the artist’s essence lingers in her own creation, both observer and observed.

The harmony of color and composition amplifies the depth of companionship, turning simplicity into significance.

    Soft breath rises, settles, fades—

a rhythm of quiet devotion, unasked, unfaltering.

Painted light hums against the walls,

a reflection of the heart’s steady pulse.

    She moves, he stays.

She speaks, he listens, unburdened by reply.

No pretenses, no questions—only the certainty

of warmth pressed into the fabric of time.

The world builds itself beyond the window’s frame,

shifting in its fickle, restless way.

But here, in this hush of fur and solitude,

there is no need for anything more.

He is not a pet, nor a guardian, nor a wandering soul.

    He is simply home.
